About the service
The cylinder is the most important part of a lock, but on mass-market entrance doors this is where costs are usually saved. A factory cylinder typically has no protection against snapping, pulling, drilling, picking and bumping, which means it is not just weaker, it is off the scale of real protection.
The next step is not the most expensive cylinder on the market: even a mid-range one from a proven European manufacturer changes the picture. And if the key turns with difficulty, you hear a "crunch", or you have to lift the door to lock it, do not wait for the emergency. A repair is almost always possible and costs less than an emergency opening.
