Before we copy a remote, we determine its code type: fixed or rolling code. That is done with equipment for analysing the frequency and the coding, not by eye, because remotes that look identical work on different frequencies and logic. A fixed code is copied quickly, while a rolling code needs to be learned by the receiver.

If you have only one remote, make a spare before it is lost. And before you order a cheap universal remote from the internet, check it: such remotes often do not support the needed frequency or coding and cannot be learned by the control unit, and the money goes to waste.
